Cryptids Island is Poptropica's 16th island. It was released on December 20, 2010 for members and January 18, 2011 for everyone. After landing on Main Street, talk to the guy with a soccer ball and he will ask if you have seen one flyer. He then hands you a flyer, and the flyer says Harold Mews is offering a$1,000,000 award for proving the existence of cryptids. Then go right. There you will.
Bigfoot is a cryptid in Cryptids Island that is supposedly related to the Yeti.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]
“ | Bigfoot, Sasquatch, The Yeti. He has many names but eye witnesses all describe him the same way between 6 and 10 feet tall covered in shiny fur and smells worse than a pair of stinky sneakers. And of course he's got really big feet. Based on this description, some people believe that Bigfoot is left over from ancient time. Half human, half ape, he should've been extinct a long time ago. Bigfoot can be found all over the world. In the Himalayan mountains, monks have reported seeing what they call a Yeti for many years. They have taken footprint casts as proof and even have a yeti scalp locked away in a monastery. Bigfoot is also said to roam the forest in the Pacific Northwest in the United States. In 1967, a famous video of a Bigfoot was taken by Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin in California. It clearly shows that creature walking across a rocky sea. Many believe this is the fast evidence of Bigfoot. Years later, a friend of the men said he wore an ape costume for the video. Believers in Bigfoot say he is lying. | ” |

Role in Cryptids Island[edit | edit source]
The player will find it after they've confirmed the existence of the other cryptids (namely the Jersey Devil, Nessie, and the Chupacabra ). They must chase it through the woods without losing sight of it until it reaches it's cave. Gretchen Grimlock will appear out of nowhere- apparently having followed the player -and capture Bigfoot. To free it, the player will have to open the fuel tank from Gretchen's helicopter and cut the rope holding its cage.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
Original Poptropica Game
- A picture of Bigfoot in the Mews mansion is an allusion to the Patterson-Gimlin footage; ironically, despite this being the most famous and well-known image of the creature, it has since been proven to have been a hoax.
- Coincidentally, this is also the case with the 'Surgeon's Photograph' of Nessie, which is also depicted in the island.
- While the video description says that the Patterson-Gimlin footage shows Bigfoot walking through a rocky sea, the real footage actually showed Bigfoot walking through what appears to be a creek in the forest.
- It allegedly attacked Gretchen Grimlock once while she was looking for a rare endangered flower, explaining her scar and obsession for Cryptids.
