Apr 18, 2009 After creating a character on Poptropica, you 'save' your Username and Password (which is not the same thing as your avatar name, such as Leaping Whale). This allows you to re-enter Poptropica. Re: Poptropica Character Creator Even though the forms on those sites function, they aren't created by the makers of Poptropican and you have no idea what they might be doing with the information you enter.
Using the Costumizer in Poptropica
One of the coolest tools in Poptropica is the Costumizer. It’s really simple to use but many people don’t even know it’s there. What does the costumizer do? It lets you instantly wear any costume you see another character wearing in game. In just seconds, you can wear just about any outfit you want in Poptropica!
Here’s how to use it. First, go find the character you want to look like in the game. For example, let’s say you want to look like the airplane pilot from Nabooti Island. Walk up next to that character in the game and then click on the Costumizer icon in the upper-right corner of your screen. The costumizer is the green t-shirt next to the map. Then click on the character you want to look like.
Next you will see a screen that shows you and the other character. Click on any clothing item on the other character to wear it and click on any clothing item on you to remove it. You can copy the entire costume of the other character or just mix and match until you get something you like.
The best part is that you can wear any outfit worn by another character in Poptropica. It’s really cool to wear the costumes that you see other special or rare characters have, like Mordred from Astro-Knights or Betty Jetty from Superpower Island. If you’re feeling really creative, you can come up with some great combinations that no one has seen before.
If you have credits from finishing the islands or you have bought some, you can use these in the store to buy costumes there and then combine them with ones you find on other characters in the game.

Being a game with lots of islands that each have its own cast of characters, Poptropica naturally has Loads and Loads of Characters.
Yes, the player character, aka you. The one who goes around to solve all the islands' problems, saves Poptropica on a regular basis, and travels around in a blimp. Can be a boy or a girl.
- Action Girl: If you play as a girl.
- All Girls Like Ponies: On Wild West Island, one of the first things you do is buy yourself a horse.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: Talking to the balloon man in Poptropica Towers allows you to change your skin color.
- Badass Normal: Since Poptropica is a Fantasy Kitchen Sink with super-powered people, Greek gods, vampires, medieval royalty, zombies, etc., and the player character is more or less a normal Poptropican, you're this as well.
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: Seems to have this, considering that the player character always goes out of his/her way to solve the problem of each island s/he goes on.
- Cool Airship: Your mode of transportation is the iconic yellow Poptropica blimp.
- Deadpan Snarker: Your character can definitely count as one.
- Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: You take on Zeus himself. Twice. And beat him both times.
- Dude, Where's My Respect?: After defeating Betty Jetty, Ned Noodlehead receives all the credit for delivering the final blow, and the Warden mentions you in his congratulation speech as an afterthought.
- Empowered Badass Normal: A variation. The player character can gain powers on certain islands (such as Super Power Island), but said powers are always limited to only those islands.
- Flight: In Early Poptropica, you find a jetpack in the airplane graveyard, and in Super Power Island, the retired superhero gives you the power of true flight in order to help you take down Betty Jetty.
- Heroic Mime: Averted. You can talk to other players (albeit through pre-recorded questions/responses like 'Can you juggle?' and 'Do you want to play head-to-head Paint War?'). You also talk to NPCs, and to yourself in some cases (e.g. 'I don't think Snoopy has much to say').
- Kleptomaniac Hero: You swipe everything you find, from a crowbar to a pixellated pig.
- Nice Guy: This is the most personality your character can have, judging from dialogue to NPCs and actions in general.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: On Counterfeit Island, the reason the Balloon Boy ends up floating around in the sky with a balloon is because you gave the balloon to him in the first place.
- Parental Abandonment: His/her parents are nowhere to be seen. The only mention the player character ever makes of them is on Back Lot Island, if you click on the chocolate-flavored soap sud bottles in the MacGuffin's store:Player Character: I wish my mom would've washed my mouth out with these.
- Fingerless Hands: Like all Poptropica characters, your hands are simple spheres with no fingers.
- Purely Aesthetic Gender: There are literally no differences whatsoever between the player character being a boy or a girl.
- Unwitting Pawn: Ends up being manipulated by island villains on more than one occasion; Spy Island, Counterfeit Island, Mythology Island, and Super Villain Island being prime examples.

The Settlers
A colony of Poptropica's first settlers, who have several vital possessions stolen (a pig, water bucket, and flag). The island quest is to get the items back to them.
- Nice Hat: Each of them wear one.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Their designs are much more pixelated than the average Poptropican, and each of them have a clearly defined black outline.
- One-Gender Race: Not as bad as other examples, since only about six are shown, but the ones who are seen are all male.
Giant
A giant who lives in the clouds in the sky, who has his club set down to prevent you from passing through to find the water bucket. To make him lift his club, you have to find his missing golden egg in the sewers and bring it to him.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: From what's seen of him, he has purple skin.
- The Faceless: The only parts of his body we see are his feet.
Medicine Man
An islander who wears a dark blue mask and lives on a stand with a straw roof on top of a palm tree. He only helps you out if you are wearing the grass skirt that the salesman gives you, and instructs you to go to the temple to find the ingredients he needs to brew the potion that will tame the Great Booga Shark. Once you bring him the needed ingredients, he brews a potion in a coconut that you need to launch with the coconut cannon to feed to the Great Booga.
- Cool Mask: He has one that covers his entire face, which even has shark teeth decorated around the mouth.
- Walking Shirtless Scene: Not for any real fanservice, but the only thing he wears on his upper half is a necklace with a skull-shaped pendant.
Professor Hammerhead
A mysteriously vanished professor, who disappeared during his studies of the Great Booga Shark. He turns out to have been trapped on an island by the Booga along with a young boy. After you put the Great Booga Shark in a deep sleep with the potion, you are able to go to the island to lead the Professor and the boy back to mainland. As thanks, the Professor gives you the island's medallion.
- Posthumous Character: Seems to be this. Subverted, in the end he's revealed to have been alive and stuck on an island.
Great Booga Shark
The 'villain,' so to speak, that swims around the island and prevents the natives from going out into the sea. When you give it the potion in a coconut that the Medicine Man brewed, it sinks to the bottom of the ocean in a heavy sleep.
- Big Bad: Of Shark Tooth Island.
- Heavy Sleeper: Once you give it the potion, the Booga never wakes up. Ever.
Future Player Character
The player character from fifty years into the future, who warns you about the bad future s/he comes from and gives you the time device needed to go back in the past to repair it.
- Bad Future: Comes from one.
- Future Me Scares Me: Averted. The player character's future self isn't seen as very irritating or freaky, and is more or less the same person (as much as you can get in-game, anyway), only with bags under his/her eyes, white hair, and a pack of sticks on his/her back when coming from the Bad Future (but with glasses at the end, when you meet with him/her again).
- The Mentor: Plays this to his/her younger self.
Edmund Hillary
One of the first two people to climb Mt. Everest, who lost his climbing goggles. You can find his goggles on a warrior in the Aztec Empire.
- For Want of a Nail: Apparently, just the loss of his goggles was one of the contributing factors to a Bad Future.
Character Generator
Tenzing Norgay
The other of the first two people to climb Mt. Everest.
Dr. Hare
The Big Bad of the island, as well as Poptropica's first proper villain. He is the reason behind the carrot deficiency, having brainwashed many citizens into bunny drones that work for him and help make the stolen carrots into fuel for his robot spaceship (a 'rabbot').
- Animal Motifs: Rabbits and hares, of course.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: His giant 'rabbot' on 24 Carrot Island.
- Big Bad: Of 24 Carrot Island.
- Brainwashed: Does this to tons of citizens to make them work for him, with the aid of bunny drone ears.
- Deep Sleep: Is asleep in a container, along with several other villains (Binary Bard, Captain Crawfish, and Black Widow) on Super Villain Island. He wakes up at the end and escapes, though.
- Distressed Dude: Not in reality, but on Super Villain Island, his dream involves getting kidnapped by ants and taken underground.
- Everyone Calls Him 'Barkeep': It isn't known if he has a first name.
- Goggles Do Nothing: Wears a pair of green goggles, but they don't really seem to do anything.
- Real Men Wear Pink: Literally. He wears a pale pink bunny suit.
- Starter Villain: The first real villain island wise.
- You Fool!: Says this from the rabbot spaceship to you when you, while on the controls, crash it into an asteroid.
Ned Noodlehead
The owner of the local comic book shop, who gives you a guide on becoming a superhero. At the end of the quest, he barges in at the last minute and punches out Betty Jetty for you. Because of this, he's the one who's given the island medallion instead of you, though he gives it to you anyway in exchange for a hot dog.
- Alliterative Name: Ned Noodlehead.
- Ascended Fanboy: He becomes a superhero at the last minute to help you take out Betty Jetty.
- Big Damn Heroes: At the end, he comes out of nowhere to help you beat Betty Jetty.
- Easy Come, Easy Go: He gets the medallion that you usually get after finishing an island's quest, but he will trade it to you for a hot dog.
- Fake Ultimate Hero: Due to being the one seen punching out Betty Jetty, he receives all the credit. It gets to the point that the player character is tagged on to the Warden's congratulation as an afterthought.
- Geek: For comic books.
- Nerd Glasses: He has the chunky black type of glasses, complete with tape on the bridge.
- Would Hit a Girl: Delivers the final punch to Betty Jetty to defeat her.

One of the six escaped villains on Super Power Island. He has the power of telekinesis, and can be found on top of a statue broken in half in the city park.
- Goggles Do Nothing: Like Dr. Hare, he wears light green goggles that don't appear to do anything.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Has a scar on his left cheek.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Gets defeated if you put a stone on one of the portions he pulls out of the ground, causing it to launch at and incapacitate him.
- Mind over Matter: He can move things ranging from bits of rock to whole chunks out of the ground.
- Non-Action Guy: Unlike Speeding Spike, he doesn't come into direct combat with the player character, preferring instead to hit him/her with rocks and chunks out of the ground.
- Punny Name: His name is an obvious play on the word 'cerebral,' which itself is an allusion to his powers.
Crusher
One of the six escaped villains on Super Power Island. He has Super Strength, and can cause tremors with just his stomping. He can be found in the junkyard.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: He spends almost all of his screen-time raging, stomping, and throwing things.

Ratman
One of the six escaped villains on Super Power Island. He can communicate with rats and make them do as he says. He can be found in the sewers underneath the bathrooms in the city park.
- Animal Motifs: Rats.
- Meaningful Name: His name is Ratman, and he's...well, associated with rats.
- Non-Action Guy: The challenge of catching him isn't beating him in a fight, it's getting through his rats and bugs. Once you turn a wheel to dump sewer water on him, he's defeated.
Betty Jetty
One of the six escaped villains on Super Power Island. She has the power of Flight and can throw green energy balls, and is the Final Boss of the island.
- Energy Ball: She's able to create and hurl green energy balls at the player character during the climactic chase in the sky.
- Evil Laugh: At the end of the sky chase scene:Betty Jetty: It's going to take more than that to stop me! Bwaah ha ha!!!Betty Jetty: -continues laughing until Ned Noodlehead runs in and punches her out-

Director D
The director of the secret agent organization, who entrusts you with the mission to rescue the three missing secret agents and stop B.A.D., a notorious criminal association that uses lasers and a satellite to zap off the hair of Poptropicans all over the island. It turns out that his 'hair' is actually a toupee, and he's the mastermind behind B.A.D. Once defeated, he is imprisoned in a cage in the agency building.
- Bald of Evil: His 'hair' is really a toupee to cover up that he's bald, like all the other members of B.A.D.
- Big Bad: Turns out to be this.
- Big Good: Seems to be this, being the director of the secret agents and the one to give you your mission. Subverted when it's revealed he's the one behind B.A.D. all along.
- Card-Carrying Villain: Seeing as he's the leader of a villainous organization actually called B.A.D. and all.

- Would Hit a Girl: In the climax of the island, he does his best to take out the player character, regardless of their gender.
The Three Secret Agents
The three top agents of the organization, who have gone missing and are in need of rescue. Once you save each of them, they give you things that come into great use during the quest.
- Damsel in Distress: The female agent gets held captive in a cage in a greenhouse.
- Distressed Dudes: The two male agents, one being tied up in a room at the docks and the other being tied up in an attic.
- Faux Action Girl/Faux Action Guys: All three of them. Though they're stated in the island's description (when it was still in development) to be the best agents, all they do are get held hostage and, upon being rescued, give you important objects (the laser pen, grappling bow-tie, ultra-vision goggles, and satellite clue cards altogether) before running away.
The Princess
The daughter of the King and Queen of Arturus, who was kidnapped during an attack on the castle by space invaders. She had a keen interest in space, and was a member of Mordred's Secret Order. It's revealed that she was trying to communicate with Mordred from his whereabouts in space, and was kidnapped after she sent him a signal from her tower. She is revealed to be trapped in a green prison in Mordred/Binary Bard's fortress. Once you defeat Binary Bard, she is released from the prison and saves the Orb by punching out the Binary Bard so you two can escape.
- And Now You Must Marry Me: According to her, the Binary Bard kidnapped her for the purpose of making her his bride.

The Three Knights
Three knights who were sent to rescue the princess after she was abducted, but never returned. Each of them is on one of three planets (Jungle, Fire, and Ice). Their names are Sir Cador, Sir Pelleas, and Sir Gawain.
- Shout-Out: Sir Gawain's and Sir Pelleas's names are references to King Arthur.
Mordred/Binary Bard
An inventor who was famous for making many creations that improved the kingdom, but was imprisoned when he started going too far. He broke out of prison by escaping in a spacecraft he made himself and hasn't been heard from since. Zeus
Yes, THAT Zeus. In Poptropica's Mythology Island, he quests you to retrieve five sacred items to bring to him, after you pick a golden apple, promising you immortality in return. However, like in plenty of his appearances in media, he's a Jerkass God. He steals the five sacred items from you without the immortality in return, and you have to fight him to stop him from taking over all of Poptropica.
- Blow You Away: One of his attacks during the final battle against him.
- Cool Crown: That lightning bolt crown.
- The Cake Is a Lie: Zeus promises you immortality if you just give him the five sacred items. However, he breaks this promise and leaves you mortal while he goes off to try and take over Poptropica with the sacred items.
- Dramatic Thunder: Well, since he's Zeus, this trope is inevitable. He invokes this twice when he arrives and leaves throughout the course of the island- one is after you picked the golden apple and he comes to you with a thunderstorm right above him. And the second time when he appears as lightning strikes the ground when he goes to steal the sacred items from you.
- Obviously Evil: Between his own actions and what the other gods have to say about him, it's pretty clear early on that he's up to no good when he gives you the quest.
- Shock and Awe: He's ZEUS. What do you expect?
- Take Over the World: His ultimate goal.
